How we think about honeymoon design
The instinct is to maximize: more cities, more sights, more photos. The instinct is wrong. A honeymoon needs three nights minimum in each location — anything less and you spend the morning unpacking, the afternoon arriving, and the next morning packing again. We build around 2 to 4 base hotels, not 7 or 8.
We also believe in one signature moment per couple. A private dinner at the Alhambra after closing. A sunrise sail off Madeira. A flamenco evening at a Sacromonte cave that hasn't sold its soul to coaches. One unforgettable thing — not five forgettable ones.
Itinerary 1 — Classic Andalusia (10 days)
Route: Madrid (1 night) → Sevilla (4 nights) → Granada (3 nights) → Costa del Sol (2 nights)

The most popular shape for first-time Spain honeymooners. You start with one night in Madrid for jet-lag and a long Spanish dinner. Then AVE down to Sevilla — the most romantic city in Spain — for four nights of patios, orange blossoms, flamenco, and slow lunches in Triana. A private Alhambra visit with our preferred local historian, dinner in the Albaicín overlooking the palace lit at night. Then descend to a quiet Costa del Sol boutique hotel — not the package resorts, but a small Relais near Marbella for two beach days before flying home.
Best season: April–May (jacaranda in Sevilla), September–October (warm but no heat).
The signature moment: A private visit to the Nasrid Palaces of the Alhambra, just the two of you and our guide, at the first 8:30am slot.
Itinerary 2 — Iberia coast-to-coast (12 days)
Route: Lisbon (3 nights) → Évora & Alentejo (2 nights) → Sevilla (3 nights) → Costa del Sol or Tarifa (3 nights)

For couples who want two countries in one trip without rushing. Lisbon for fado, pastéis de Belém, and a sunset on a Tagus boat. Then south into the Alentejo — Portugal's quiet wine country — for two nights in a converted monastery with a small pool and almond trees. Cross into Spain at Sevilla, three nights in the Santa Cruz quarter, then the coast: either Costa del Sol for beaches, or Tarifa for windswept Atlantic-meets-Mediterranean drama.
Best season: May–June, September.
The signature moment: A private dinner in a Cortijo (Andalusian country estate) with the sunset behind the olive groves.
Itinerary 3 — Madeira & Lisbon (10 days)
Route: Lisbon (3 nights) → Madeira (6 nights, returning via Lisbon)

The quietest of the five, and a favourite of couples who want decompression after the wedding. Three nights in Lisbon for city-and-food rhythm — Alfama, Belém, a tile workshop, sunset at a hidden miradouro. Then a 90-minute flight to Madeira, the volcanic Portuguese island in the Atlantic. Six nights of vertical green, levada walks above clouds, lazy lunches on hotel terraces, sunset at Cabo Girão, and the smallest spa on the island for couples. Most of our honeymoon guests describe Madeira as the most unexpectedly emotional part of the trip.
Best season: Year-round (Madeira is spring-like 12 months). Avoid Lisbon in August (Portuguese vacation, half the city closed).

Itinerary 4 — Basque luxury (10 days)

The Basque Country is Europe's quietest gastronomic capital — more Michelin stars per capita than almost anywhere on earth, but a sleepy green region with mist and short walks. One night in Madrid, then Bilbao for the Guggenheim and old town. Four nights in San Sebastián — long beach mornings, pintxos bar-hopping evenings, one tasting menu at Asador Etxebarri or Mugaritz. Then south into the Rioja wine country for three nights at a winery-hotel: vineyard walks, private tastings, slow dinners.
Best season: June, September.
The signature moment: A 7-course tasting menu at a 3-star Basque restaurant, paired with regional Txakoli and Rioja.
Itinerary 5 — The Iberia signature (14 days)

How to choose your itinerary
Three honest questions guide the choice:
- How energetic do you want to feel? Andalusia is theatrical and warm. Madeira and the Basque Country are quieter. The 14-day signature combines both rhythms.
- How important is food? If it's the centre of your trip, choose Basque (Itinerary 4). If it's part of the texture, Iberia coast-to-coast (Itinerary 2) gives variety.
- How long do you actually have? Be honest. 10 days flies. 14 days is the real honeymoon length.
